Welcome to The Nutrish Dish

Welcome to The Nutrish Dish! Your source for all “the dish” on nutrish for your mind, body, and soul. The Nutrish Dish is on a mission for prevention awareness and for people to lead happier and healthier lives.  We realize it’s a lot easier said than done but short term behavior modification can lead to long term results.

Working in health care for almost a decade and seeing chronic disease on a daily basis has inspired The Nutrish Dish. According to the Center for Disease Control about one-third of US adults are obese (33.8%) and approximately 17% of children and adolescents aged 2-19 years are obese. These numbers are unacceptable -we have got to do better not just for our physical body but also our psychological state and overall well being. Not taking care of our bodies can lead to breakdown and disease and we’re on a mission to help facilitate the conversation in real change.

Nutrition plays an important role in diabetes, cancer, autoimmune disorders, digestive diseases, and heart health. By eating the right foods and exercising, you can lower your risk of disease. Remember, the goal is to lead a longer, happier, and healthier life so start today on your journey to wellness.

Exercise also plays a key role helping to maintain physical fitness, overall health, and wellness. We all know that regular exercise is good for you but for a moment let’s just think of all of the benefits: weight control, disease prevention, improves mood and learning, boosts energy, promotes better sleep, decreases stress and much more! Most of all it can be fun. If you enjoy walking or running why not grab a friend and go together – maybe even sign up to walk or run and raise some money for charity. If you enjoy classes, sign up for a class at your local gym. With so many activities to choose from, surely there is one that is right for you!

Please remember that if you are establishing a new exercise program and/or a starting a new food regiment you should consult with your family physician and a registered dietitian or nutritionist. It helps not only to establish a baseline but also to have extra support in your journey to wellness.

Now onto the good stuff! Features from this blog include healthy recipes (our own as well as those we love), healthy cocktails, product and restaurant reviews, the latest exercise trends, resources, and much more! The food will be delicious, the reviews honest, and information will always be from reputable sources, we promise! Most importantly, we want to have fun and hear from you and much of this site is dependent upon your knowledge and comments so feel free to share! This is an open forum powered by you.
